2017 Lexus RC F GT3 Racing Concept
Exposed carbon fiber does not do much to tone down the swoopy, creature RC F GT3, isn’t that right? This is the most recent change of the Lexus GT3 racer, which showed up in a before spec with the American group F Performance Racing. (Unexpectedly, the group changed its name to 3GT Racing as of late to additionally separate itself from Lexus.) The most recent RC F racer will contend in IMSA and Super GT dashing.
Lexus will handle two autos in every arrangement. Since GT3 and the Japanese GT300 autos share a spec, this RC F GT3 will race as a RC F GT300 in Japan with the LM Corsa group. On our side of the Pacific, the auto will make a big appearance at the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 29th, and contend with the previously mentioned 3GT Racing group in the GTD classification of the IMSA Championship Series. Notwithstanding any unannounced changes, the 2,756-pound car will pack a front-mounted V8 got from the generation RC F’s motor and tuned to convey more than 540 strength, contingent upon arrangement directions.
It ought to be said that in Japan, the auto will race close by its greater sibling, the LC 500 GT500 auto, which we enlightened you regarding a year ago.
Lexus is hardly the first brand that comes to mind when comes to motorsports. In fact, it’s not even the first Japanese brand. But Toyota’s premium marque is showing new signs of understanding that it will need to at least pay racing further lip service if it wants to be viewed as a more emotionally connected brand with the wherewithal to challenge the Germans on every level.
Lexus has already made it clear it wants to race its RC F coupe, and at least philosophically, the new model certainly strikes us as a more appropriate racecar conversion than the SC 430 that preceded it. This justunveiled RC F GT3 Racing Concept looks properly menacing sitting on the carpet at the Geneva Motor Show, and it while it’s officially labeled as a concept, it’s a model Lexus promises will be made available to racing teams in 2015.
Designed run in Group GT3 events, this 2,756pound coupe has a frontmounted V8 derived from the production RC F tuned to deliver over 540 horsepower. Lexus’ plan is to commit to a season’s worth of testing this year before building them to order, and we expect to see them in the Japan’s Super GT and Super Taikyu Endurance series, along with endurance events like the 24 hours of Nürburgring.
